Over the past few decades, bands like Goose and MGMT have put the growing Connecticut music on the map. However, one of the most prominent musicians to come out of Connecticut in recent years has been Bridgeport-born, Fairfield-raised musician John Mayer.
Next month, Mayer will return to his hometown area to headline this year’s Sound on Sound music festival along with Alanis Morissette on Oct. 1. The Sunday headlining performance will be Mayer’s first in Bridgeport in nearly a decade. The festival runs Saturday, Sept. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 1.
Mayer leads an array of performers with local roots including Derby’s Sammy Rae & The Friends, and Bridgeport’s JULAI and the Serotones and Deep Banana Blackout.
