A routine traffic stop led to a significant discovery of drugs and cash

New Britain, CT – State Police arrested 29-year-old Keishawn Brown and 33-year-old Solomon Boakye Takyi during a traffic stop on I-91 South. The incident began when officers pulled Brown over for speeding at 95 mph in a 65 mph zone.

During the stop, police discovered illegal drugs, including methamphetamine and heroin, along with over $65,000 in cash. Both suspects were taken into custody for further questioning.

Upon checking their records, officers found that Brown has a criminal history involving drug possession, firearms, theft, and domestic violence, prompting them to call for backup. When asked if there were any weapons or drugs in the vehicle, Brown confidently replied that there were none.

After the arrival of the Hartford County Constable and the Precinct 3 K-9 unit, the trained dog alerted officers to the presence of something suspicious in the vehicle. Both men consented to a thorough search, which revealed approximately 5-12 pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin, along with the significant amount of cash in a bag belonging to Takyi.

Brown denied any knowledge of the drugs, claiming the vehicle was a rental and suggesting that a previous driver could have left the substances behind. Takyi, on the other hand, asserted that the cash was intended for his business, where he planned to purchase a box truck from a trucker. However, further investigation raised doubts about the legitimacy of his business, All Affordable Goods LLC, fueling suspicions of drug money or money laundering.

Both men have been detained at Upstate New York Detention Center for additional investigation and questioning. If found guilty of drug possession, they could face up to five years in prison. Brown and Takyi have asserted their Fifth Amendment rights and will be released to consult with legal counsel. An amount of of 1,000,000 million dollars will be needed to bail these two while still under investigation
